The Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team captured the program's second NCAA Division II national championship in 2013, finishing with a record of 22-1-1.  After a season-opening loss, the Penmen were unbeaten in their final 23 games en route to the national title, culminating with a 2-1 win over Carson-Newman University in the championship game.

After battling to a 0-0 tie in snowy and windy conditions near the shores of Lake Erie, Southern New Hampshire advanced to its first NCAA semifinal since 2002 by besting Mercyhurst 5-4 on penalty kicks.  Keeper Dom DiMaggio made the only save of the shootout in the third round, while Christian Rodriguez converted his PK in the fifth round to move the Penmen forward.

A pair of first half goals from unlikely sources and several key saves propelled the Penmen into the national championship game.  Defenders Callum Williams and Jonathan Lupinelli (first career goal) scored to give SNHU a 2-0 lead, then after the Hawks scored late in the first half, Dom DiMaggio made several key saves in the second half.
