Men's Soccer Works Overtime to Top Stonehill

EASTON, Mass. – Chris Tsonis (Dartmouth, Mass.) scored 3:28 into the second overtime session to lift Southern New Hampshire University to a 2-1 Northeast-10 men's soccer victory over Stonehill College at Skyhawk Field Tuesday afternoon.  The Penmen snapped a two-game slide and improved to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the NE-10, while the Skyhawks are now 3-3 and 1-1 in the league.

Tsonis, who scored for the sixth straight game to open the season, headed home a through ball delivered into the box by Chris Pereira (Ludlow, Mass.).   It also marked the fourth game-winning goal of the season for the junior.

SNHU took a 1-0 lead with 11:30 left in the first half.  Ruben Resendes (Fall River, Mass.) sent a corner kick into the box that was headed home by P.J. Burnette (Brunswick, Maine).  The Skyhawks tied the game in the 60th minute when Anthony Campagnano lifted a 22-yard shot towards the goal that glanced off the crossbar and inside the top left corner.

Dom DiMaggio (Rome, N.Y.) saw his first collegiate action in goal and made a pair of saves en route to the victory.  Adam Colella made three saves for Stonehill, which was outshot by Southern New Hampshire 21-11.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Le Moyne College in a 4:00 Northeast-10 contest at Larkin Field.
