HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Southern New Hampshire scored the first 16 goals of the contest over the opening 45 minutes, including eight first-quarter markers, to put the game out of reach early.
  • Schutz opened the game's scoring 55 seconds into the contest before Valentine tallied his first with help from Pietz at 2:01.
  • Back-to-back goals from Goguen extended the lead to four with 10:31 remaining in the first frame, and after Valentine set up Schutz at 8:12, a man-up marker by Valentine made it 6-0 with just over two minutes to go.
  • Pietz potted his 11th of the year at 13:32 before freshman Jeremy Handman (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) cashed in a feed from Goguen with 29 ticks to go, which capped the high-scoring first 15.
  • The Pietz-to-Valentine connection linked up for the third time in the first half, which completed the hat trick for the latter less than three minutes into the stanza.
  • Graduate student Bryan Noyes (Wakefield, Mass.) upped the advantage to double digits with his first career goal at 4:26.
  • After Valentine fed freshman Pat Quinn (Billerica, Mass.) for his fourth midway through the second, he set up freshman Logan Bell (Gilford, N.H.) for his first career goal with 4:52 remaining in the first half.
  • Pietz closed out the first half with his second of the afternoon with help from Goguen, and the Penmen carried a 13-0 edge into the intermission.
  • Schutz kicked off the second-half scoring by completing his hat trick 45 seconds into the third, and after freshman Thomas Sweeney (East Hampstead, N.H.) drilled home the first of his career, Handman netted his second of the day with 2:45 left in the third.
  • The Yellow Jackets finally broke through just over two minutes into the fourth before back-to-back scores by freshman James Einarson (Billerica, Mass.) and Goguen wrapped up the Southern New Hampshire scoring.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • Redshirt sophomore Neal Murray (Marblehead, Mass.) earned the win after stopping all four shots he faced in the opening quarter. Freshman Alex Sturgess (Derry, N.H.) turned aside the lone shot he faced in the second before senior Jacob Dionne (Windham, Maine) made four saves in the third.
  • Senior Andrew Liu (Piedmont, Calif.) won 9-of-13 trips to the faceoff X while redshirt junior Jack Healey (Hampton, N.H.)) was successful in four of his six attempts.
  • The Penmen outshot American International, 47-34, and held the Yellow Jackets scoreless on three man-up opportunities.

  • 10 different Penmen registered at least one goal Saturday with seven student-athletes turning in multi-point efforts.
