WORCESTER, Mass. – Tyler Holske (Attleboro, Mass.) recorded his third shutout of the season as the Southern New Hampshire University ice hockey team defeated Assumption College by a score of 2-0 Saturday evening in Northeast-10 Conference play. With the win, the Penmen are now 5-12-2 overall and 3-3-1 in the conference, while the Greyhounds fall to 5-15-2.
The win marked the third straight victory for the Penmen, and Holske's second shutout in three games.
Dane Caracino (Belmont, Mass.) put the Penmen on the board in the first period when he recorded his third goal on the season from John Humphrey (Charlestown, Mass.) and Joe Collins (Mansfield, Mass.). SNHU would head into the second period with a one goal advantage over Assumption.
The second period was scoreless, however, Nick Riccio (Wilmington, Mass.) would notch an unassisted goal for his third score of the season at 13:07 in the third period to put the Penmen ahead 2-0 and to secure the win.
Holske recorded 25 saves en route to the win, while Bobby Bowden turned away 31 shots for the Greyhounds.
The Penmen return to action Tuesday, February 5 when they host cross-town rival Saint Anselm for a league game at 7:30 p.m.
