HOOKSETT, N.H.—Six different skaters scored to lead the Plymouth State University Panthers to a 6-0 ice hockey win over the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University in non-conference action on Saturday evening. With the loss, the Penmen fall to 0-2 on the season, while the win boosts the visiting Panthers to 1-0.
After a scoreless first period, Alex Cottle, Bryan Kriner, Kyle Weiland and Kyle Greco tallied goals in the second period to give the Panthers the 4-0 lead heading into the final frame. Goals by Phil Armone and Matt Aponte in the third period would finalize the 6-0 win for Plymouth State.
Cottle and Greco both finished the game with a goal and three assists, while Seth Phelan added two assists and Larry Kincaid and Mike Freitag added an assist apiece.
Penmen goaltender Tyler Holske (Attleboro, Mass.) recorded 35 saves in the loss for SNHU, while Plymouth State goaltender Jack Astedt recorded seven saves. The Panthers outshot the Penmen 41-7 on the evening.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Friday, November 11 when they play an 8:00 p.m. game against Fitchburg State at the ICFCU Shootout.
