MANSFIELD, Mass. – Junior Sam Riemer (Canton, Mass.) of the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team was selected as the Northeast-10 Co-Golfer of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Riemer fired back-to-back rounds of even-par 72 on Sunday and Monday to claim individual medalist honors with a two-round total of 144, leading Southern New Hampshire to its first tournament title of the season at the Franklin Pierce University Fall Invitational at Keene Country Club. Riemer, who won by three strokes, did so on the strength of his field-high nine birdies.
Riemer shared the honor with Saint Anselm College's Stephen Hunt, who also carded a 144 to capture the Bowdoin Invitational. This marks the second straight week to open the season that a Penmen has been named the league's Co-Golfer of the Week, as sophomores Drew Kane Scarborough, Maine) and Garret Olivar (Manchester, N.H.) split the award in week 1.
Riemer and the Penmen return to action Sept. 18-19 when it hosts the Penmen Fall Invitational at Hanover (N.H.) Country Club.
