Michelle McCarty Named SNHU Cheerleading Coach
MANCHESTER, N.H.—Southern New Hampshire University Director of Athletics Chip Polak announced Monday that Michelle McCarty has been named head cheerleading coach, effective immediately.
“I am confident that Michelle will be able to restore the cheerleading program to a level of great success. She is one of the most decorated coaches in the state of New Hampshire, and her knowledge, talent, and excitement will be a great addition to the program at SNHU," said Polak.
McCarty has served as the head cheerleading coach at Pinkerton Academy in Derry, N.H. for the past 11 years. During her time at Pinkerton, she earned 12 State Championship titles and four consecutive New England Championship titles. With Extreem Cheer, McCarty coached 19 National Title teams. In 2008, her senior-level cheerleaders earned first place honors at the Indianapolis Showdown and then placed third in 2011 in the small gym level-three junior division at the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) competition in Dallas, Texas, which is the largest competition in the country.
