NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Rising senior Endy Morales (Holyoke, Mass.) and redshirt-freshman Joshua Eastman (Marshfield, Mass.) of the Southern New Hampshire University baseball team were named to the All-New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) First Team on Monday.
Morales, who just captured an NECBL Championship with the Valley Blue Sox on Friday, led the league in ERA in seven regular-season starts this summer, as he went 5-0 with a 1.12 ERA, striking out 32 in 40 innings, while walking just 13 and allowing 30 hits. In his only postseason appearance, Morales, who started the NECBL All-Star Game earlier in the summer, was the winning pitcher in Friday's 5-3 win over the Ocean State Waves, allowing one run on four hits over seven innings, punching out seven and walking a pair, as the Blue Sox became the first back-to-back champions since 2006-07.
Eastman was lights-out for the Plymouth Pilgrims out of the bullpen, going 2-0 with four saves in 13 appearances, not allowing a run over 20-and-two-thirds regular-season innings. He gave up just 10 hits and flashed a 31/9 strikeout-to-walk ratio. In his only postseason appearance, Eastman struck out one, walked one and relinquished a hit in a scoreless inning of work.
