Brad Monroe Named Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Week
SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – Senior Brad Monroe (Hampton, N.H.) of the Southern New Hampshire University baseball team was named the Northeast-10 Conference Pitcher of the Week, it was announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Monroe pitched a complete-game four-hit shutout in his lone outing of the week, an 11-0 win over Felician College on Sunday. He allowed just one hit over the first seven innings and notched 13 strikeouts while issuing just one walk. With the victory, Monroe upped his record to 8-3 on the season, tying the single-season program record for wins set by Mark Perec in 1997.
In 12 starts this season, Monroe has registered 98 strikeouts in 84.1 innings of work while recording just 25 walks, and his 2.13 earned run average places him second on the squad.
38-12 overall and ranked No. 1 in the NCAA Division II East Region in each of the past two weeks, Southern New Hampshire now waits until Sunday, May 13 when it will find out if the program has earned its first-ever NCAA tournament bid.
