MANCHESTER, N.H. – For the first time in program history, the Southern New Hampshire University baseball team is nationally-ranked. The Penmen check in at No. 9 in this week's National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II poll, while also being ranked first in that organization's East Region poll. SNHU also stands No. 28 in the College Baseball Lineup poll, while it is the top team in "Also Receiving Votes" in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll.
Southern New Hampshire is garnering national attention after a program-best 13-1 start that saw the Penmen open the season with 13 straight victories, including three wins over ranked foes. Last week, SNHU topped then-No. 25 Nova Southeastern University 14-8, then followed that up with a 3-2 triumph over then-ninth-ranked Lynn University.
SNHU returns to action this weekend when it visits Saint Thomas Aquinas College for a four-game series with doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. The Spartans are off to a 7-4 starts and ranked No. 8 in the NCBWA East Region poll this week.
