MANCHESTER, N.H. – Brad Monroe (Hampton Falls, N.H.), who is entering his senior season with the Southern New Hampshire University baseball program, has been selected to participate in the 2011 New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) All-Star Game. Monroe, who was named to the West Division squad as a member of the Keene Swamp Bats, is one of just seven non-Division I players among the 58 players selected.
The 2011 NECBL All-Star Game will take place on Wednesday, July 27 at 6:30 pm at Fraser Field in Lynn, Mass.
Monroe is the second SNHU player in two years to be selected to the game, as Bryant Gauthier was a 2010 NECBL All-Star as a member of the North Shore Navigators.
Monroe has made a total of six appearances for the Swamp Bats this season, who currently sit in third place in the NECBL Western Division standings, one-half game back of league-leading Holyoke. Monroe is 3-2 with a 3.08 ERA and has fanned 26 batters in 26.1 innings of work while walking just seven. He struck out a season-high seven batters in six innings July 10 against the New Bedford Bay Sox in a 4-0 shutout win for Keene. On Monday, Monroe was named the NECBL Pitcher of the Week after recording a pair of victories last week.
