Student-Athlete Spotlight: Monica Mosca
Sophomore Monica Mosca (Acton, Mass.) returns to the cheerleading team for her second season this year. In this week’s Student-Athlete Spotlight, she answers ten questions to help fans get to know what its like to be an SNHU cheerleader.
Name: Monica Mosca
Major: Psychology
Pregame routine: My pregame routine is pretty simple. I make sure my hair and makeup are game-ready. Then, I pack my backpack with my uniform, sneakers, pompoms, and water. Then, I put on my warm-ups. I try to relax and run through everything for the game in my head. I also drink water throughout the day to stay hydrated. When it is finally game time, my smile is on and I’m ready to cheer on the Penmen and pump up the crowd!
Something people don’t know about me: Something most people don’t know about me is that I was on toy packages and I modeled for Limited Too.
The moment I am most proud of: One of the proudest moments in my life was when I became a godparent. My stepmom’s brother asked me, over his own blood relatives, to be the god parent for his son Bryant. I adore that little boy, along with his twin sister, and I am so proud to be his god mother.
Favorite Athlete: Ryan Martin is my favorite athlete. She is a senior and a cheerleader at the University of Alabama. She is has won numerous national titles and was on the cover of Inside Cheerleading magazine. Her love for cheerleading and spirit for her school is incredible. I look up to her for all things cheerleading.
Favorite meal in the SNHU Dining Center: Omlets and tater tots from Ed are my favorite!
Three items I would want if I was stranded on a desert island: If I was stuck on a deserted island, I would want a photo album full of family and friends, a boat, and plenty of gas to get me home!
What’s on my iPod: I have a super broad taste in music. I love songs that are upbeat and make me want to dance, and I also love songs that my sister and I can belt out in the car.
In five years: Five years from now would make me 24…I would like to have a stead job, be a cheerleading coach, and maybe on the road to getting married.
One item I can’t live without: I love my iphone and laptop, but I couldn’t live without books (especially Harry Potter)! I read all the tiem and I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t. Reading allows me to relax and clear my head when I’m stressed.
Places I have visited: Lake Havasu, Arizona, was amazing! It’s so different from New England. The weather is warm but the air is dry, and the water is surrounded with desert. I loved taking walks down the channel at night with my dad.
