SNHU Intramural/Recreation Sportsmanship Policy (updated 8/29/11)

Each team will be rated by the Intramural Sports Staff on its Sportsmanship each game. All teams must average a 2.75 or better sportsmanship rating to qualify for the playoffs. The following rating chart will determine a team’s availability.

0= Poor Sportsmanship: Team is completely uncooperative. Captain has no control over teammates and/or him/herself. Team forfeits and does not give a 24 hour notice via email to p.calkins@snhu.edu.

1= Below Average Sportsmanship: Team constantly comments to officials and/or opposing teams from the field and/or sidelines. The team captain exhibits little or no control over teammates and him/herself. If two players are ejected from his/her team, a one (1) will be the highest rating the team will receive. Team forfeits, but gives a 24 hour notice via email.

2= Average Sportsmanship: Team shows verbal dissent toward officials and/ or the opposing team. Captain exhibits minor control over him/herself. If one player is ejected from his/her team, a two (2) will be the highest rating the team will receive.

3= Good Sportsmanship: Team members verbally complain about some decisions made by the officials and/ or show minor dissension.

4= Outstanding Sportsmanship: Players cooperate fully with the officials about rule interpretations and calls. The captain has full control of his/her teammates.

Note: When playoffs begin each team will start with a perfect 4.0 rating. Each team must maintain at least a 2.75 average rating or higher during the playoffs to be able to continue to participate in the playoffs.
